Celebrating 10 Years of Movie Making Madness!
Can you believe 3MPS is now in its 10th year? Where does the time go?! We are looking forward to a great 2011 season but first we want to sincerely thank from the bottom of our hearts all of you who have contributed to making 3MPS what it is today. To every volunteer who has labored for our cause, every filmmaker who has participated, every camera-savvy teen who sent us an email trying to enter and inspired us to add the Twinkling To-Do in 2010, every venue who has hosted a 3MPS screening, every red-carpet strutting screening attendee, everyone who told someone about 3MPS, generous sponsors, donators of snacks and fabulous raffle prizes, we thank you, thank you, thank you and are sending you a giant hug from Three-Minute HQ right this very second. We know that we would not exist without your support and your crazy three-minute films.
Sign up for 2011 is just days away! Yes, we are returning to Portland for our second year and yes, the Twinkling To-Do Film Screening for films made by 6-17 year olds turns 2! Portland, we’ll see you on August 20 at the Clinton Street and San Francisco, we’ll see you on August 27 at the Victoria. We are working so hard behind the scenes to let people know about our Portland and kids screenings. Our goal this year is to get enough kids signed up to hold 2 screenings: 1 for 6-12 year olds and 1 for 13-17 year olds. Please help us spread the word 3MPS fans, we know we cannot do it without you!
One more new item before we get down to 2011 business: we now are fiscally sponsored through Fractured Atlas. What does this mean? Most donations made to 3MPS are now tax deductible. Check out our campaign on IndieGoGo for more info or to donate to 3MPS.
As always, we welcome your questions and feedback about our programs and just ask that you please be patient with us – we have day jobs and this is simply a labor of love! Email Camille at camille@threeminutepictureshow.com if you need us.
xoxoxo From Three-Minute HQ,
Greg & Camille
Portland News!
While AV Club President Gregory is steadfastly working behind the scenes to update our site for 2011, we wanted to let our Portland 3MPS friends know a couple of things. First, we’d like to thank Paxton Gate PDX for hosting a screening of some of our favorite films of yore on Saturday, May 7th. Please drop by from 11am-12pm to see kids films from our Twinkling To-Do Film Screening and from 1pm-2pm to see some of the greatest hits from our Black Tie Gala & Film Screening. Lovely volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions should you feel inspired to make your own!
Speaking of making your own three-minute film, 2011 sign up begins in June and we have just confirmed our return to the Clinton Street Theater on August 20th for this year’s screenings!
Thank you Portland and we hope to see you at Paxton Gate PDX on May 7th!
We Heart Art

We just checked out the opening of and it felt like a kiss at the Incline Gallery in the Mission. The show features prints and works on paper by Bay Area artists Nora Aoyagi, Leah Dai Brawley, and Gina M. Contreras. If you are a Three-Minute Picture Show fan, you are already familiar with Leah’s work –she did the lovely illustrations on our website, 2010 festival posters and merch, and her work was featured during our screenings last August.
As you enter the gallery, you are greeted by three murals, one pained by each artist. This is definitely a highlight and provides ample photo ops! Wind your way up the ramp and discover gem after gem by these three talented friends whose work explores the challenges, possibilities, and randomness of love.
The show is up through March 6. The Incline Gallery is at 766 Mission and open Saturdays noon to 5 pm and by appointment.
Whew!

See You at the Victoria Theatre Bay Area!
Whoah! What a whirl-wind week we’ve had here at Three-Minute HQ! We returned from our dreamy Portland debut at the Clinton Street Theater where, thanks to MC Bill and AV Club President Greg, everyone had a swell time, and now are putting the final touches on the San Francisco screening. We cannot wait to see The Wizard Lizard perform at our Twinkling To-Do and find out if our beer and wine calculations for the Black Tie Gala are correct!
We also wanted to let you know in advance that we will have our first ever Three-Minute merch at the screenings, featuring the designs of Leah Brawley. We will have pins, t-shirts, totes and an amazing poster, and 100% of proceeds benefit our programs for kids and adults. Bring a little cash to splash if you want to support us even more and walk away with some fresh goods.
We’d also like to thank our sponsors again for being awesome: The San Francisco Film Society, KGO 810 am, It’s a Piece of Cake, Rayko Photo Center, Faye’s Video, Densise DeShetler Bodywork, Gregory Cowley Photography, Interior Design Fair, Wente Family Vineyards and Script Frenzy!

The Films Are In and the Screenings Are On!
Hello 3 Minute Friends!
Our dream of expanding to Portland and adding a kids screening and sitting in real theater seats while eating real theater popcorn while watching 3 minute films is coming true! BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all of our 2010 filmmakers! Now that the hard work is over, we are getting ready to party in your honor! See all the important details below but first, let’s answer the number one question we get asked every year:
Is the screening really black tie? Answer: Heck yes. But in a free-form faux-Oscars kind of way. Our filmmakers worked hard and they deserve a fancy screening! For the kids, we’re encouraging everything in the Halloween to formal wear spectrum. Actually, that goes for the adults too. Whatever you decide to wear, we promise you do not have to be worried about being overdressed! It is highly possible that special prizes may be awarded to those who do it up right. Just saying.
Now for the details:
PORTLAND: We’ll see you on August 21 at The Clinton Street Theater
Twinkling To-Do: 3:00 pm
Black Tie Gala & Film Screening: 6:00 pm
SAN FRANCISCO: We’ll be back in time to party with you on August 28 at The Victoria Theatre (we know!). Advance tickets now available: http://www.victoriatheatre.org/boxoffice.htm
Twinkling To-Do: 3:30 pm
Black Tie Gala & Film Screening: 7:00 pm
Yay! Operators are standing by at Three-Minute HQ to answer your questions: info@threeminutepictureshow.com. See you at the screenings!
